How to Target and Close Sales with LED Clients

“You’ll be surprised how cheap this was”

These were the words spoken to me by a gastropub owner on an installation two years ago. We installed a 6 square metre LED screen to take-over a whole window space. He had a huge amount of footfall outside, but his problem had been communicating his food offering to the punters outside. He had been restricted from even standing a sandwich board outside his door. He took me aside after the job - not knowing that we were the distributor who were simply working alongside the managed services company who had sold him the screen – and spoke these words. His eyes were alive with excitement, he knew that for the value of his investment he could have run a one-month radio ad campaign on a regional station, but now for the same budget, he could expect 10 years of highly visible, dynamic advertising to a captive audience right outside his door.

That is the main selling point of LED. The cost versus return on the use case for most businesses is simply a no-brainer. So let’s talk about the types of LED and the customers we can help you target.

1 - LED double-sided flag signs. Probably the simplest, cheapest and most effective LED use case is the flag sign. You may see some low-quality flag signs around the country (they’re not ours) but when installed with a professional finish and a sharp pixel pitch the flag sign is a winner for the business owner. They are now visible to all the passing trade in both directions, and they have dynamic and eye-catching signage that they can update at the touch of a button.

2 - LED semi-outdoor, a large screen installed in a retail or business window space. We call this one semi-outdoor because it is technically an outdoor LED module, but there is no need to waterproof the casing as it will sit inside the window space. The beauty of this type of installation is that the LED screen is made to fit the window, so it’s a complete take-over. It makes the window look

3 - LED indoor media wall. This type of project is probably most appealing to us all in the AV sector. Installations are not subject to weather conditions; the project is usually part of a complete overhaul of a reception area or meeting place in a building and the customers tend to go for the most expensive sharpest pixel pitch option.

4 - Transparent screens are usually relevant for a very specific type of client, the car dealer showroom. A picture says a thousand words so here is an installation from Liffey Valley.

5 - Instead of outlining every other specific type of LED I think it’s better to simply make one final point that with LED you have the ability to create any type of display, including curved designs. If you have a concept you can almost certainly create it with LED. The pictures below show a drink station from Supermacs Kinnegad Plaza. Whether the client requires only a small amount of display or something bigger LED is normally a very powerful solution both in terms of price point and ability to create something truly unique.

The point of this week’s ar1cle has been to point out some specific customers who have installed LED screens in the hope that it helps you win sales from your exis1ng client base. When you open a conversa1on about LED screens to an end-user, for example, a retailer, you’ll be surprised how often they tell you they’ve been thinking about it for years. They will be ready to buy in a lot of cases.

Next week we’ll talk about the some of the specific technology in an LED module from COB to SMD, common misuse mistakes from end-users, maintenance contracts, warran1es and some of the latest developments in the industry that will help you future proof the offering to your customers.

Call or email today if you would like to discuss or even better come into our demo room in Glasnevin, Dublin for a coffee and business development mee1ng.
